In 1992 I was assigned as project manager to certify the quality management system according to DIN EN ISO 9001. Autodidactically, I familiarized myself with the subject and, together with colleagues and employees, described and improved processes and established procedures. After the first certification at the end of 1994 my task was to further simplify the system. The classic QM manual was abolished, the implementation of the standard requirements in the company was presented in a table. The process and work instructions were reduced to a minimum and the QM documentation to 1/3 of the original size. Thus I have learned to always limit myself to the essential.
With this approach I have successfully combined quality, environmental and occupational safety management in one system and reduced internal and external costs. Through internationalisation and working with foreign customers, I have become familiar with new quality standards, moved in an international environment and expanded my specialist and language skills. Working in meduim-sized companies and in a large company was also a valuable experience for me. Teamwork, communication and coordination with colleagues worldwide is fun.

In the next years, I want to pass on these experiences to organisations and individuals who have not had the good fortune to experience similar things.
